Blessed are the difficult people in my life

There are people who have hurt

Prodded

Provoked me to the point of anguish

I didn’t realise they were lifting

Me

And by the time I looked back

It could only be with compassion

Because there they were

Still small growing smaller

Still stuck

In their fears

Human beings

Who had taught me to fly

How lucky am I

To have had such difficult people

In my life

Some may call them brother

Some Mother

Some sister

Some lover

Some Father

Some may even have been friends

And though they didn’t obviously intend

Nevertheless

Our becoming

Was thanks to them

These relationships are sent to bend

Forge

Scorch

Us into better people

A pot withstands incredible heat

In the kiln

To become proofed

Then it leaks no more

Where it breaks

A welded pipe is stronger

And all the better

To play beautiful music

Directly from

The enlarged organ

That is a patched and stitched

Broken and stretched

Incredibly

Lifted

Gifted

Mended

Joyful

Beating

Buoyant

Flying

Heart
