The road not taken – for a reason

It felt stilted

Like a bend in a hinge

That was rusted

It felt like a wrong turn

Yet I turned it anyway

Walking hand in hand

With the wrong thing

Clasping a bucket

Already leaking

And trying to make it there

Before the water

All

Drains

Out

I can convince myself of anything

Except that if I have to argue

These days that’s enough

To know

I’m on the wrong path

Turn around

Traipse back

A little time

A little money

A little mistake

A little waste

So much better than the bitter taste

Of too long spent

On the road not taken

*detect and correct as soon as possible – there is no failure in trying something different – just another way you now know won’t work.
