Authenticity

There is a place in the throat

You can feel it when you swallow

Words

They form a clump

Like a jar lid

Keeping emotions inside

Contained

Be careful of the seal

Things can go rotten in there

Restraint is commendable

But stomach acid does terrible

Things

To an inside that doesn’t ring true

  1. It’s been many days since I’ve been able to sit and just read. And what a pleasure it always is to read your gifts. To be authentic just this morning I had to release some acid. Times that I HAVE to be transparent to speak my truth are not always easy for the listener to “stomach”. Authenticity is sometimes rare. And swallowing my truth hurts. 💚 I just love your words.

  2. “This above all: to thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day. Thou canst not then be false to any man/Farewell, my blessing season this in thee!”.Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Right on, Kate.

  3. I feel like this piece sums up my last 2 weeks pretty damn well. I had to finally allow myself to feel, emotions to flow through because that frog in my throat was really starting to ache. Well done👏😊
