It’s late
I’ve been dreaming
And doing
Published a second book today
It’s called “By the Loo and in the Waiting Room”
Because it is intended as a selection of short stories for when a spot of boredom could strike.
The paperback is out later in the week but the Kindle should be live here https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B081VYK53Z/ref=ya_aw_dod_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 now
I didn’t begin writing/story telling / poetry until 2014
Before that I processed all my emotions in some pretty destructive ways or rather I didn’t process them
I just had them (or they had me actually)
So
I am basically two different people now
One was pre writing Kate
The second is post writing Kate (or rather present writing Kate) because I will never stop now – it’s just too beneficial to my wellbeing
Long story short
I joined a writers group in 2014
Loved it
Loved it so much that I was churning out short stories of up to 3000 words twice a week
Not all of these were brilliant mind you but being a lifelong avid reader I tend to edit myself pretty harshly.
Some of the stories others fell in love with
Some of them I fell in love with
It’s funny the things that stick in your mind and in your heart.
Lyn, one of my writing friends from the group sent some of these stories back to family and friends in New Zealand.
They apparently loved them
Then she ran out of stories
The other night she asked me for more copies “because they are all asking for them” she said
So I thought others might enjoy these stories too
Some are funny, some are sweet and some a bit different.
I am Australian and I suggest googling some of the terms which may be foreign to you – we do have our own language, after all, down here.
Since they’re my stories, they are included as my bits of paper cast out into the world – so I thought I would give the book it’s own blog post here on athousandbitsofpaper.
The kindle version as I said, is live now – somebody said the other day (not here) “I don’t have kindle” well my love you just download the app onto your iPad or phone or whatever – kaching! now you have kindle and can read the books.
But if you would like paper (and I do love my paper) just wait a couple of days and it will be on the Amazon.com site (I don’t know why they differ between kindle and paperback sites?)
It’s not free. I’m enjoying the fact my books are generating funds for different charities that are close to my heart.
The profit proceeds of this one – or those up until Christmas leastways will go towards Amanda’s (see About page on this blog) trip to Russia in January to cure her MS (cross fingers)
If you could see the courage of this fragile lady – if you could see her smile and her determination – you would like to make a difference too.
It’s a worthy cause.
After January 2020 I will put the proceeds of this book to Drought Angels which supports our Aussie farmers.
I’ve got family on drought ravaged properties that have received help from Drought Angel’s before and its a brilliant charity.
So that’s it folks. Back to my normal blog schedule again tomorrow and continuing writing on my children’s book series which is a little bit dark and funny and keeping me hugely entertained.
I had a goal at the start of the year you know. I was sitting on the beach and I said to myself sternly – enough of this procrastinating shite you will write a book and have it published by the end of the year.
Later I wrote it down in my journal.
All the same it rang hollow – I didn’t believe I would. Now I’ve suddenly published two within a month
Aaaaaaand if my illustrator kicked his bum into gear (I hope you don’t read the blog Francis and if you do look – I have to blame you that is the illustrator’s job – to take the blame for production hold ups!)
Then we will have the first of the kids books out in the next few months.
Plus I have an adult fiction work that is 40,000 words in and coming along pretty well too
Long post – I’m sorry – think I’m writing myself off to sleep – that’s the thing about writing – it is so damn soothing.
Anyhoo goodnight to you all – so many I’m thinking of right now that I’ve come to enjoy chatting with each day.
I’m sending you blessings over the ether
Hopefully we’ll chat tomorrow
Take care xx
