Blindsided
I did not see it coming
Swimming
I forgot to breathe
Or that I even needed it
Until that pocket of air
Wafted in
And I recalled
How sweet it is
To be light
And the water receded
Though the shoreline remains
My eyes follow it
From the sun drenched sand
Trying to ascertain
Where the land begins
And the waves
Carried me in
I would like to know the negotiation point next time
For I am not really
Amphibious
To the beach I go to lose my mind and find my soul …
