Mere common sense
Yet it is how we fail ourselves

January 1st 2021
Happy New Year! I’m spending this first day (and the week before it) alone, looking after my dogs before their kennel placement date arrives and I can join the rest of the family on holidays at the coast ..
I’ve always enjoyed my own company but I had forgotten how restorative it is to be entirely alone for days on end
I crave it without even realising what that undefinable restless feeling actually is
The longing for solitude and reconnection to self
The ego naturally recedes when there is no one else about
The voice in the head begins to realise the futility of talking to itself endlessly and quietens
Gradually the soul emerges from beneath the clouds of doubt and repetition
Silence becomes solace
And I cease.
A reset and recalibration before commencing 2021
But here it is – so let the fun begin!
Fresh plans, energy and insights are overflowing once again from a very full bucket of creativity – December saw me scraping the bottom of the barrel, but the updraft has arrived – let’s get cracking on another year of this beautiful life!
