Climb into
A box
Close the lid
And sit
Let the clouds drift across the sky
Don’t ask what the weather might be doing
It doesn’t matter
You’re always fine
Then comes the day
When someone asks you
If you’re okay
And a voice
From deep within a box
Says
Of course!
And you both smile
And it’s ticketyboo
Because boxes are invisible
And darkness is agreeable
It descends like a blanket
Heavy and soft
An afternoon on the couch
Turns into a day in the box
When you can’t concentrate on the page of a book anymore
Even though you’ve always read
Books
I don’t know what the secret is
To find a way out of the minds
confined spaces
But I know eventually
All cardboard rots
And books come to The End
And that’s the thing about flammable things
They will burn
If you set them on fire again
