Climb into
A box
Close the lid
And sit
Let the clouds drift across the sky
Don’t ask what the weather might be doing
It doesn’t matter
You’re always fine
Then comes the day
When someone asks you
If you’re okay
And a voice
From deep within a box
Says
Of course!
And you both smile
And it’s ticketyboo
Because boxes are invisible
And darkness is agreeable
It descends like a blanket
Heavy and soft
An afternoon on the couch
Turns into a day in the box
When you can’t concentrate on the page of a book anymore
Even though you’ve always read
Books
I don’t know what the secret is
To find a way out of the minds
confined spaces
But I know eventually
All cardboard rots
And books come to The End
And that’s the thing about flammable things
They will burn
If you set them on fire again

OMG this is on the same theme as mine in ‘Broom Closet’ ; one of my favourite poem s of mine; okay, okat vanity but we are hitting on the same theme just getting there in different ways —–
Great minds John 😂 it really is an interconnected world and intelligence when dealing with creativity – I’ll check out your broom closet ..
yes !!!!
Oh, I absolutely love how this ends! I was reading, nodding, and relating, and then I reached the last line, and my heart erupted with bright lava…and I felt seen. Thank you!
A pleasure Mathew and Thankyou for reading 😊
Lovely as always, Kate. As someone who spends a lot of time (probably too much) in her own internality, I appreciate this.
Lovely to hear from you Camilla x
