The sound of the TV
Coming from the other room
Reminds me there is still something
We call the news
That lately
I choose
Not to listen to
And if I’m not there to hear it
Does it mean
Thousands aren’t dead
All over the world
That Trump hasn’t tweeted
That women aren’t beaten
And that black lives matter
Does it mean that the environment has stopped being degraded
And no one was taken by a shark today?
No
Like it or not
The world lives on
But I don’t have to listen to the creak of media wheels
That go round and round forever
On the same axle
That broke
Some time ago
If you stand far enough away
From the other room
And the news
The sound of crickets in the grass
Is louder
And it makes more sense too
Crickets are very wise. : )
As are you Widds nice to see you back 😊
Aww, thanks. : )
Ha, yes, so true!
I love this! I am not a news watcher and much prefer the crickets and birds chirping!
Hi Alison, yes we can choose what we pay attention to and I have found that it makes all the difference in quality of life
Brilliant – I don’t watch the news for those same reasons!
Just a cycle of regurgitated drama really – I’m all for knowing what’s going on, just not every moment of the day.
💙this piece, I haven’t watched the news in forever, for the same reasons.
It’s like Groundhog Day and I almost pity the reporters that have to stick to the old system – there are alternatives available
