All the dots

Is it a trick of the eye

Blue dots

Turning purple

Turning green

Turning red

Gone completely

And still I press

Oh how I press

I press the buzzer in my chest

I see them

Spreading outwards

All the dots are blue

All

Of

The

Dots

Are

Blue

And there’s so many

*blue dot theory. We all suffer to a degree, from the repercussions of blue dot theory. But as with all things, knowing our tendencies, knowing ourselves, helps immensely.

The flower below is a frosted little Billy Button wildflower and noticing these sorts of dots is an antidote to the blue ones.

Cold shock therapy also clears my head. I plunge into the ocean, diving deep beneath the waves and feel all of those blue dots, wash away.

Knowing, that my thoughts are not reality, but rather habit

Meditation

Running

Reframing

These things, help me see the blue dots for what they are, figments, spots on my filter. I take a tool, clean them off.

Mike

  2. I’m not familiar with blue dot theory; I see black smudges against pure whit backgrounds; concerned I went to an optician; he said, ‘They’re floaters, mate. Get over it’ !

  3. 😬 I think I get it, but I will avoid consulting Google on account of my personal views on the Quantum Enigma. 😉 But I do love the poem and the photos! Always interesting, engaging and aesthetically pleasing! Thanks again, Kate! ❤️

    • Hi Camilla. – simply put it is a sort of learned pessimism. Scientist gave subjects lots of blue dots and told them to recognise the blue dots and then slowly reduced the amount of blue dots and replaced them with other colours that were similar over time. The subjects continued to find blue dots when in fact the dots they were seeing were actually say, purple. In the same way once something bad happens, we expect more bad rather than letting each experience be whatever it is. Sorry – that is a very simplified explanation.

      • Then I do get it! That’s fascinating and actually accords quite well with my view of the Quantum Enigma. 😉 Our perception IS our reality. If I change my perception, it follows, . . . .
