Queue the Stress Bitches

Here you come a creeping

Tightening bands around my head

Flowing down my shoulders

Restricting

Constricting

Ravaging

My chest

And there I go sending

Sending you away

Breathing deep

And dusting all your clingy fingers away

The tendrils still crawl towards me

But I stamp upon their fronds

I’m aware that you’re a channel

Switch the dial

Move on

Write the tasks down carefully

And move down with a tick

That is all the thought I grant them

When they start to pile on thickly

Gathering

Knocking

Me first

Me!

Me!

Me!

Get in line you bitches

I have a red pen

We shall do this my way

Now

Then

First

On my list is

Number 1

You may come in

Sit down

My brain will see you now

First day back after even a short break and you have to wonder – was it worth it? The deluge of emails – the gigantic task list with everything needing to be done yesterday. I used to feel so overwhelmed – still do – if I don’t tune out of that particular stressful channel and into awareness instead.

This is my process:

Tune out of the stress and instead write everything down in a diary that needs to be done. Do this in as detached a fashion as you can manage.

Prioritise.

Move through the list.

A few helpful things to remember:

Don’t accept monkeys that are not yours.

Very important!!

Once you have separated your monkeys from other peoples please ensure that they don’t try to disguise their monkeys as drama that is not yours either

Are you worrying about monkeys that are out there in the jungle that you can’t even see? I do that too but until they enter your circus you really cannot allocate them a seat.

Leave them be – they will come in

or not

when they are ready

And remember – like the poem above says – queue those thought bitches and keep them in line. Stress is caused by thinking not doing and doing is the only thing that gets things done so just do and don’t think until it is safe to do so.

This is of course mainly a note to self – I took time out of my schedule to prioritise my thoughts and my first thought, my greatest thought today is

This

Crap

Is

Not

Going

To

Disturb

My

Peace

Of

Mind

Thought I’d share however as aside from our individual acts – there is one hell of a big circus tent out there and we all suffer from time to time!
