Windy days

Windy days

When the leaves scatter like living things

Marching past me as I sit

On this step

My face to the sun

Windy days

When the washing flaps on the line turning inside out

And sheets are possessed with a need to wrap me in their folds

As I patiently peg

One peg

Two pegs

That can barely hold

Anything down

Windy days when the dogs go silly

And jump all over me

With eyes rolling

And tongues lolling

Windy days when the dust from miles away

Ends up on my floor

And in the pool

Windy days

Show us the fools we are

To think we are in charge

Because on windy says

Momma Earth shakes us all
