Brightest sun
middle of the day
I cannot stand to return its gaze,
but in the early morning
as it barely lifts above the horizon,
I breathe in golden light,
with open eyes
feeling it expand to fill my temples.
I carry the memory of colour,
radiance,
birdsong,
all day long
and it warms me.
The sight is certainly beautiful
But the idea of a new cycle dawning
full of fresh potential
is simply intoxicating
Header Photo taken at dawn – my favourite part of the day because ..well as per the above poem. Location Monkey Mia, a remote little place in Western Australia which has become famous for its dolphins which come in close to the beach and enchant all of the tourists.
I was up before anyone else and had swum a few hundred metres off sure when I suddenly had the inkling that if dolphins were around then so were sharks. And then I headed back to shore briskly, but had no encounters with either sharks or dolphins 🐬 We saw the dolphins later in the morning and they were magical.

I’m crying 😭. Kate, it’s you. You’re here. With your beautiful words, pictures, and soul. I’m better for seeing you today. Much love and hugs, my gifted friend. I can’t say enough how happy I am to “see” you. 💕💛🙏🏻
Karla, I was the same when I saw your post the other day. I’m always worried when I take leave of WordPress that some of my favourite bloggers won’t be here when I get back. The break was necessary and yes I’m certainly back – lovely to see you and so grateful you’re still using the platform to offer your particularly lovely brand of grace and peace 💞💖💞
Thank you, Kate! I’m so glad you saw me. I took off 3 months. My friend, I think I have your email. I’d love to catch up. I’m so happy you had a break you needed. I understand so much.
I’m so grateful for your presence and gift of wisdom and words you give us! ❤️💕🥰
I felt this and dawn is by far the most joyous time for me. It holds so much promise!
Beautiful, it is like a painting.🥰
I agree, dawn is a wonderful artist Arlene 😊
Beautiful
Thankyou ☺️
You’re welcome 😊
Wonderful!
Thankyou Luisa 🥰
🙏💙🙏
Embracing your words, as dawn in the Sonoran is arriving. 🌄 🙏🏻
Lovely, enjoy X
I do. I did. 🥰 Thank you, you too. x
Truly a magical morning, I’ve never seen dolphins in real life it’s so exciting you saw them 🐬
Monkey Mia is known for its wild dolphins that have always visited the water around the resort regularly – I’ve never seen dolphins in the wild either so it was a highlight on our holiday. The west coast of Australia is amazing, it was my first time visiting but I’ll definitely be going back.
That really sounds so amazing, so glad you got to see them on your holiday.
I love this; the metaphor of intoxicating is spot on; yes, I too feel charged with excitement at a fresh new day I’ve been given; the challenge is to make use of it —
I think we are too often driven to fill days and in doing so we forget how lucky we are to have the opportunity. If all you do is make a cup of tea and sit quietly in gratitude then that is a day well loved.
good point, Kate; I need to remember that; Sunday and Monday were hectic and Tuesday morning was when I had stroke like symptoms, so I am slowing — slowly —
