There is a tether inside me
It runs from the top of my head
Down through my spine
Splitting in two
It exits through the soles of my feet
When I become lost I find it
Hold it
Descending
Hand over hand I reach the bottom
Breathe
Feel my feet
My toes in my shoes
Or on the earth
My calves
And I’m climbing again
All the way back up
Feeling as I go
Until I reach my eyes
I look around mentally noting all I see
I’m back to me
And once again I listen and respond to the conversation as it swirls
But inside, one mental hand is on my tether
And I let it rest there, feeling the rope twist and sway
I don’t let it drop away
I may need it again
If I become lost
*people are energy. We jostle and bump into one another in conversation. Absorb emotions like sponges and release out own chemicals and elixirs to the ether.
The more sensitive you become, the more you can feel it, and the greater the world’s impact can have. There are negatives and positives in that sensitivity.
Feeling into beautiful art, music, poetry. Feeling into relationships with people that you love and conversations that are deep and interesting. Feeling into the beauty of nature and the peace and quiet of our own soul and experience. These are wonderful explorations in a sensitive state.
And then there is the noise and harshness and busyiness. There is the stress and negativity and emotional turbulence that arises from humans around you that triggers your own.
Having a way to return to a sense of balance and peace within the inevitable storms of life that we cannot predict or master is crucial.

I love how you ended this. I think we all just need a quiet place to sit and reflect at the end of the day; a place to recharge and unwind.
A necessity Michelle, in my case anyway.
Ah, I know this rope and the balance you so beautifully describe. Kate, you always perfectly describe life in a way that I can’t explain in such an amazing way. I FEEL your words; I have whiplash from nodding. I’m sending love, light, and blessings across the big ocean. I’m a rope climber with you. Much love, gifted friend. ❤️
Hi Karla, lovely to hear from you and your comments always make me smile and feel understood. The rope is so important X sending you all the love in return ❤️✨
It’s my blessing to be here, Kate. I smile each time I see your name. I feel the love and kindred spirit connection. It gives me joy!! 💕

You’re more than welcome, dear Kate 💖
So true…and then there is the noise….which is sometimes difficult to recognize and we get caught up.
Reminds me of a piece from very long ago which I read:

What a beautiful piece of writing Yacoob, thankyou for sharing 💕
