Perhaps the part of me that has something to say
About grass
And the broad expanse of ink black sky
Sprinkled with stars
An orange moon
Surprisingly wonky
Reminds me to breathe
That life is more than pressure
And bustle
And hustle
That people should really be told
What I yell sometimes in my heart
Instead of presented
With all of the energy it takes
To be polite
To the impolite
Kind
To the unkind
And generous
To the tight or maybe not
Perhaps it is just wise
To be myself
Only on the inside
Where I can paint the walls blue if I like
And slide down their resilient vertical brace
Relax into my taut stomach
lean on my own faith
Awash with gentle solitude for awhile
for whatever reason it is
and whichever part of me it was
who woke me at this early and very godly hour
I am grateful
For here I sit
Beneath life itself
Looking up in wonder
Remembering
Who I am
When I forget to fight
Resist
What is
And simply be in awe of what it is to be alive
*having that moment when the soul can be heard. When it crawls out from beneath all the to do’s , and should’s and the hundreds of voices that fill up my head.

Peaceful reminder. I love it. Thanks

My pleasure, I’m glad it landed well.
This is utterly lush. Gorgeous, Kate! “Relax into my taut stomach/lean on my own faith.” Wow! Spectacular. Thank you.
