Bloom in my chest
Rush to my face
Smile
Like a flower opening
I want to hold it for awhile
Enjoy the colour
Scent
Sweetness
Alas night sets in
The editing
Brings doubt
The flower shrinks
Dropping petals behind me as I walk out
Switch off the light
But before I close my eyes
Alone in the dark
The memory of the flower
Washes
Over
My heart
Another will bloom
Another
And another
I just have to keep creating
That is all there is
No “because”
Or “if”
I am not a bush
A plant, a tree
Yet they give their gifts for free
And do not hold their flowers
Instead they offer them to the day
Unselfishly
Blooming
Radiating life and continuing
To bloom, wilt, drop
The circle of life
Creation never stops
