Old buildings
Ornate facades
Behind them lay
Tumbled down staircases
Missing bricks
Broken panes of glass
Step
Carefully
I saw a woman
She had lost her son
Recently
Her face was calm
Some milk
A loaf of bread under one arm
I wanted to trail behind
Protective
Stupid I guess
But if someone didn’t know
They would think she was fine
Happy as they come
Maybe reverse into her car
Unexpectedly
Or shout
Uneven pathways
Broken concrete
Behind the facades
We are all crumbling
Go kindly
Header photo – wouldn’t be able to be taken at this angle now. It is part of an old pub beside which we are building a new shopping complex. I took it a few week-ends ago when I was on site for the morning. Beautiful old bricks and tumbled down aged textures.

Yes, Kate, we all wear our masks to greet the world.
