I continue to consistently write my newsletter each week at SubStack. It is changing the way I see writing and sharing on these sorts of platforms.
Whereas years ago I used to post something and then check the stats and views, I now post and enjoy the satisfaction that comes with both self expression and honouring my commitment to myself.
Writing and untangling the meaning behind our lives is its own reward. That said, chatting with community here and on the other platforms where we also meet like Instagram, is wonderful 💕
This mornings newsletter continues my poetry theme of yesterday and reflects on the past week of paying tuition fees to the University of Life
The header photo is from a mornings walk and here is another. I enjoy cattle for their innocence and write a poem earlier this week on Insta.
The cow is innocent and slow
As it hauls itself to its feet
Curiosity blinking gently
Beneath orange sky
In its rounded eye
The hawk squeals in airy flight
But the two cannot commune
Bovine chests are heavy
The hawk adrift in the weather
Has never known the truck
It is his luck
To be born with feathers

Take care and enjoy your Sunday X

A gorgeous pic capturing their innocence. I loved your verse. Lovely post as usual, Kate.
Thanks Yassy, I love the cows – they don’t belong to me and are the neighbours, they camp along the fence and greet me most mornings
They must look forward to seeing you .. I am sure .. I can see it in their stance 🤗

Read your substack link, Kate. Bummer.
Bummer indeed, thanks DD – I’m mostly pragmatic – with a little side twinge of rage 😂 what can we do but continue to pay the fees and hope the lessons are worth it – plenty of beautiful things going on alongside it – I’ll just focus on them instead
Hope Steve is okay too.
He is well DD back at work (though he shouldn’t be) and is as usual a rock
Somehow I missed this one, Kate. So good to hear your thoughts again.
