Something we can see

Yet as humans

we are often in between

Waiting on decisions

Waiting on parcels

Waiting on people

Waiting on disaster

Or perhaps that is just my existential dread speaking

Still

It makes me want to reach for something certain

Something I can eat

Drink

Buy

Beat

Something I can hold onto

That’s real

Something I damn well chose

Even if it was a silly thing

I did that

I controlled the outcome

I made it happen

Sigh

I’ve spent the day waiting

As so often occurs

So today I wondered

If that one time

Late at night

When I asked God for patience

He

Heard me
