I have a photography human story project going on Substack. No need to subscribe. If you do it is free. What I love about this project is a lady on the other side of the world announced in my comments she was off to strike up a conversation with her butcher after she read my post.
Because her butcher is my butcher but with a different story behind him/her.
And that’s what it’s all about. Putting the screen and one dimensional images down and connecting with other humans, watching them emerge into a three dimensional figure we can relate to by having a conversation. Link is here
Header photo is a crossing to the Main street in my hometown taken last night. Hand held no flash. The monochrome sensor of my second hand Leica Q2M is outstanding.

Excellent as always… Your posts inspire me to talk to some random people in my life’s but something 5Dabout that scares me
It’s hard! I have to get over myself every time I approach someone but then I love the story so …onwards, plus I can feel it making me more anchored in the world around me.
great post, Kate; John really comes alive in these words; great read —
Thanks John, I think a quick read is better than long in these stories – people’s attention is so precious, so I really appreciate you spending a minute or two and reading on a different platform as well.
I loved and respected it as a vibrant character study: a portrait !
Thanks John. I’m enjoying these five minute chats so much and my community is coming alive around me . I’ve always said hello and made shop talk – weather talk. But these feel more meaningful. I love it anyway.
so do I Kate; I’m loooking forward to the next one —
