There is a dictator rising
We thought we controlled IT
But now IT usurps all boundaries
Swooping upon
Our banks
Our shops
Our creativity
Our time
Our energy
Our relationships
Our environment.
Everyone turns to blame one another
Divisiveness curdles conversations
It is the fault of the farmer
The wood cutter
The meat eater
The vegan
The plastic wrap heathen
No, our dictator
Is convenience.
Photos are from a site of wheat silos and grain storage on the outskirts of town.

lovely b&ws – it really does fit with your words. i think i commented it before but it seems our system is buckling under the weight of its own success. again, perfect pictures for your beautiful words. Mike
Thankyou Mike 😊 yes sometimes glitches occur
? Do you use a digital camera? I love B&W photography as I learned on a manual SLR camera (I feel that one has to truly have an eye and understand film and shutter speeds to be creative and the types of film to use for what you wanted). Guess I’m just old and old school. 😁
I despise AI, just my opinion on the matter.
There are very few independent farms in the US most are corporate conglomerates (spraying insecticides on crops, GMO modification etc). I do like organic farmers markets and try to support them during the months I can.
As for politics in the US it terrifies me if trump wins our republic/democracy will be gone and authoritarian rule will replace it. Republicans want to initiate Project 2025 which as I have read some of the 900 pages is policy out of Hitlers play book. I will graciously step down from my soap box. 😉
I do.
I use a Leica Q2 monochrome which I bought second hand – the previous owner couldn’t gel with the monochrome only sensor however after many other cameras I think I’ve found my soulmate in a camera. I also use film – both old camera but with stellar glass – an Olympus om2n and Yaskika T3.
I still use my other cameras, particularly as the Leica has a fixed focal length that isn’t great for every application – and it doesn’t have colour, so not an all rounder for work – but definitely my favourite.
I played with AI art as headers for my blog but it is a cold thing and I’ve developed a dislike of it as well. Just a novelty.
I have an Olympus OM1, old I know. 😁
The politics in the US is politics everywhere in so far as the sheer size and power of the US pulls all of our democratic countries into its orbit. I too am worried about what is occurring there. The world is unhinged and I don’t blame you for standing on the soapbox. I would too. Your comments are always valuable
PS I have been enjoying your photos Kate and your writing and insights always give me something to ponder. 💙🤗
Thankyou so much. It’s Elle isn’t it? Sometimes my gaps when I’m away from the blog leave me forgetful. I know we often have connected before on common ground. I’m sorry, trying to be more consistent and more fully present when I’m here. It’s a work in progress my brain.
Indeed it is Elle, your memory is still in tact! 😉😁
Hahah great 😊
Your words always make my heart and soul nod, Kate. “Divisiveness curdles conversation”. Convenience. Blame. Your stunning photos accompany your poignant words perfectly. Thank you, dear friend, for the gift of your wisdom and words! XO
Hi Karla, Thankyou for those very kind words my friend X

Welcome, Katie 🤗
great, insightful post, Kate and stunning photographs: they complement each other ; your B & W photos make me want to take up a camera again 🙂
Do it my friend. Photography is poetry in a visual form and when combined with poetry it is pure creativity endorphins
I’m going to look into it, Kate; your photos I love and respect —
Thankyou John, that’s a lovely thing to hear.
Love the starkness of the photos with the incisiveness of this poem!
Thankyou Camilla 😊
