Sunrise golden beams
Through dark wood blinds
Patterns against the wall
Golden
Darkness
Golden
Darkness
Golden
Darkness
Stripes that envelope my hand
My shoulder
My torso
My legs
With
Golden
Darkness
Golden
Darkness
Golden
Darkness
I am a striped being
Of golden and darkness
And I take these patterns with me
Into the world
This was Day 7 of the dirtythirty challenge on Facebook. I liked it so have included it here for those that aren’t partaking in the challenge. We are darkness and light, and the contrast makes us beautiful. 7/4/22

litany of a cross count that cost!
I absolutely adore the glow of the day’s early light through blinds – a gentle filtering in of the new day, still subtle enough to warm our spirits without overwhelming us with the sun’s full light. Never wrote a poem about it, but you’ve reminded me that maybe I should. Lovely piece here, Kate.
Thanks Yacoob, as a keen photographer I’m always noticing light. Morning and evening is of course the most beautiful. And yes, you should definitely write a poem about this – I look forward to reading it.
Managed to do it 🙂

It’s a beautiful poem Yacoob! That early morning light really triggers something in us – a waking blessing.
