Failure made me stronger
Pain made me kinder
Sadness gifted me compassion
Grief gave me wisdom
All of these feelings
Which people strive to avoid
I welcome in
They fill the hollows, flesh me out
Burn the straw men within
Humble me
Again and again
Header photo: mine from awhile ago – a storm was coming – everything looked very dramatic – it was messy, even a little scary but the rain grew some grass, caused renewal to the landscape – certainly worth a bit of short term thunder and lightning 🌩️🫶🏻💥❤️

Great photo and verse! I have to admit that this is probably the most powerful title that I have seen in a very long time!!!
Thanks Colin. We need to burn them 😊
I love your photo! It is dramatic and interesting. Your reflective words pair nicely.
Thanks Michelle 😊
You are welcome, Kate. The sky in your photo reminded me of my region, before a monsoon storm. Cool!
a terrific title, Kate : the poem shows much serene wisdom acquired though suffering : ‘what doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger’ —
Which doesn’t mean we enjoy the pain, just know that it will transform us in someway.
definitely: I don’t enjoy what I’m going through either, but I’m getting a great raft of poems out of it 🙂 all grist to the mill 🙂
