Drop

I was worried

and I was anxious

I used to cling to things like thoughts

and ideas

and plans

As I tumbled I grabbed hold of stubs of grass

sliding in gravel

Weightless.

I would hit the end of a disintegrated dream

mentally and physically drained

but then it struck me as I sat at the bottom of yet another steep slope

This universe doesn’t drop us

we drop ourselves

*header photo from my shearing series of photos (on Flickr) a dog musters the sheep. They look powerless and they usually are. Sadly, sheep are very fearful creatures. and the fear makes them easy to control and muster.

My “These 2 Hands” project on Substack is also free . Yesterday, I posted about one of our local butchers. I am not into meat much these days, but I buy it and cook it for my husband and always have a chat. This one went deeper and now when I walk into the store my butcher is three dimensional instead of just a face, because I know more of his story. I’m loving this project.

    • Hey thanks for reading over there Michael, I know it’s a click away from here so I really appreciate it. I don’t think I’ve ever met an unfriendly butcher – they could have a side hustle in selling cars 😂
