An Italian poet

La pioggia stilla

La pioggia scivola

The rain slides|glides

La pioggia cade lieve

The rain falls softly

….

La pioggia sussurra

The rain whispers

La pioggia sussurra alla finestra

The rain whispers at the window

Vivi nella bellezza

Live in beauty

I’m learning Italian. My mind is a dangerous place if it is not kept busy. It is immersed in serious business at the moment so to stop the worry that can slip in the side door at times – I have been learning Italian. What a beautiful language.

I’m not fluent obviously but I’m making my way through the levels of beginner in my app – this morning I thought if I can just describe the softly falling rain the poet in me will be satisfied.

Taking feeling and turning it to language and then transforming it into a different language and absorbing that feeling in a different way is like watching a caterpillar turn into a butterfly and then watching the butterfly float onto a flower and blend.

Duolingo – an app that keeps the mind dancing – highly recommend.

  1. Ti amo, dear Kate. You’re a beautiful soul. Like you, my mind must stay busy. Even when my body is “struggling”. It’s always so amazing to read your amazing words and feel your spirit. You lift me! Sending love and hugs. I will download that app when the dust settles from appts. I want to learn a new language–I’m sold on Italian! 💚❤️🤗 X

    • Ciao Karla
I am loving this beautiful language so much and it is highly poetical and lyrical – I just told my husband to “porta la tuna ombré altrove” take your shadow elsewhere 😂 much kinder than I usually briskly say when I am cross. You will love it too – and it makes my time useful when I pick up my phone. Ti mando forza e luce (I send you strength and light) 💕

    • Yes but it’s a gendering of things – which I rather love the more I learn this language which infuses even a basic object like a book with life. Its an understanding that is still on the edge of my tongue but I feel it’s going somewhere beautiful

  2. italian is such a great language to learn, i’m picking up phrases too. my hope is to soon converse fluently with a beautiful native woman whilst driving a Riva speedboat to a rented Lake Garda villa lol 😀 MIke

    • Nothing like being drawn by inspiration rather than being pushed by rote Michael – it’s amazing how much I love learning so many things as an adult. Mind you Italian is a lot more interesting than algebra 😂

  3. So much beauty here! Thank you for always inspiring with your creative mind and pursuits. ✨ I do understand the consequences of a runaway brain and those side doors that seem to construct themselves without our consent.
